We’re searching for an Apparel Designer, Athleisure + Outerwear with a sharp trend eye, elevated taste level, and strong understanding of contemporary athleisure, casual sportswear, and outerwear. This role requires a highly creative designer with strong technical skills and experience designing knits, athleisure and outerwear that are fashion-forward, comfort-driven, and aligned with the Comfrt brand DNA. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Translate trend, cultural, competitive, and fabric insights into elevated, commercially successful product 
  • Design across athleisure and outerwear categories with strong understanding of silhouette, proportion, comfort, functionality, and performance 
  • Research emerging trends, fabrics, trims, washes, and white space opportunities relevant to the Comfrt customer 
  • Create detailed tech packs, CADs, BOMs, and construction callouts for accurate execution 
  • Partner closely with Fabric and Product Development and overseas vendors throughout development, fittings, proto reviews, and production 
  • Participate in fittings and provide direction on fit, comfort, construction, and garment functionality 
  • Develop seasonal color palettes and support cohesive assortment building across categories 
  • Create and manage visual line plans to support merchandising strategy and product flow
  • Design within cost targets while maintaining elevated product integrity
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high SKU count, fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, Product Development, and Production teams to bring product to market quickly and successfully
  • Continuously evolve and elevate the Comfrt design aesthetic while maintaining alignment to brand DNA 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Strong understanding of athleisure, activewear, and outerwear construction techniques 
  • Expertise in performance fabrics, fabric finishes, stretch recovery, moisture-wicking, insulation, waterproofing, wind resistance, and durability standards 
  • Knowledge of garment engineering for movement, comfort, layering, and functionality 
  • Experience designing knits, technical outerwear, puffers, jackets, and performance-driven apparel 
  • Ability to create detailed technical sketches, construction callouts, BOMs, and tech packs 
  • Knowledge of trims and functional components including zippers, drawcords, toggles, elastic systems, seam sealing, linings, snaps, and performance hardware 
  • Understanding of special performance finishes, wash techniques, garment dye, and fabric treatments 
  • Experience partnering closely with product development and overseas factories throughout sample execution and fittings 
  • Ability to evaluate proto samples for fit, balance, mobility, construction, and functionality 
  • Strong knowledge of trend research, competitive market analysis, and commercial product positioning within athleisure and outerwear 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM systems ● Experience working in high SKU count, fast-paced environments with multiple seasonal launches 
  • Strong understanding of merchandising and assortment building across core, seasonal, and fashion product categories
 

You Are: 

  • 7+ years in apparel design with a portfolio showing exceptional taste and commercial success. Athleisure and/or Outerwear design experience preferred 
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and ideally 3D design tools. 
  • Highly knowledgeable in textiles, garment construction, fit, and performance fabrics. 
  • Experience managing development calendars, vendor communication and navigating production realities. 
  • Strong understanding of garment costing and timelines. 
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and solutions-focused with a positive, can-do attitude. 
  • Strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously across various stages of development 
  • Thrives in a high SKU count, fast-paced environment with constantly evolving priorities and timelines 
  • Highly organized with the ability to work autonomously, manage own schedule effectively in a remote environment, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability from concept through execution 
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, able to pivot quickly and work long hours when launches demand it.
