KDHE is comprised of three divisions: Public Health, Environment, and Health Care Finance (which includes the State’s Medicaid program, KanCare). We are the only agency in the nation to have these three entities under one roof which allows us to take a holistic approach to improving and protecting the health and well-being of all Kansans.

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The position (K0233588)
Serves as the point-of-contact and provides technical assistance to local organizations within assigned region that are receiving KDHE grants, such as Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR). Conducts bimonthly progress meetings, site visits, and provides grantees with resources and pertinent information to support community initiatives. Ensures grantee accountability, quality progress reporting and alignment of approved work plans. Participates in CDRR application process, technical reviews, and supports Community Health Promotion program goals.
Assists communities with identifying and leveraging resources to advance community health promotion work, build capacity and encourage the development of local coalitions for the prevention of chronic disease. Works with supervisor and state-level chronic disease prevention staff to identify state resources (organizations, universities, funding, etc.) that are available to assist the local coalitions. Assists with promotion of programs in assigned region. Serves as the lead on special topics as needed and assigned by supervisor.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Contributes to CDC and other progress reports, summarizing outcomes from grantees in assigned region. Provides updates and maintains records regarding the implementation of policy, systems and environment strategies. Shares regional program information as needed with staff and partners.
Organizes and conducts trainings for grantee and partners working in specific areas of chronic disease prevention and assists with the annual Chronic Disease Risk Reduction Annual Summit. Contributes to Community Health Promotion Section quality improvement work. Provides trainings on tobacco prevention, worksite wellness, farmers market programs, etc. within region, as assigned.
Represent KDHE and the Bureau of Health Promotion at regional meetings or at state meetings as assigned. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with officials in the region; meets with the key organizations or individuals to further the development of health promotion programs.
Perform other duties as assigned including serving as a member of the KDHE Disaster Response Team as needed to assure the agency's public and environmental health response is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism.
Responsible for reading and implementing the KDHE 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. Reviewing the Core Values, Priority Areas, Impact Statement and assisting to complete the Strategic Plan Summary and assure Goals are met.
