The Opportunity

As our CPA Accounting Manager, you will lead a team of 3 5 accountants and tax preparers, oversee day-to-day client service, and help shape the systems and processes of a scalable firm.

This is a hands-on leadership role -you will review complex work, manage key client relationships, and serve as a trusted resource for both your team and clients.

For the right candidate, this position offers a principal/partner-level opportunity with potential for economic ownership in the firm.

What You'll Do

  1. Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of 3 5 accounting and tax professionals
  2. Oversee bookkeeping, write-up work, and monthly/quarterly financial closings
  3. Review financial statements for business clients
  4. Review individual and small-business tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S)
  5. Provide guidance on complex tax matters and ensure timely, accurate filings
  6. Manage workflow and deadlines, especially during tax season
  7. Serve as primary advisor to a portfolio of clients-answer questions, interpret results, and identify planning opportunities
  8. Maintain strong quality control and enforce firm standards
  9. Stay current on federal and Texas tax law changes and implement updates
  10. Collaborate with leadership to improve processes, systems, and scalability
  11. Assist with IRS/state notices and client issue resolution
  12. Contribute to strategic growth initiatives and business development

What We're Looking For

  1. Active CPA license (required)
  2. Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  3. 5+ years of public accounting experience (business accounting + individual/small-business tax)
  4. 2+ years of experience supervising or managing staff
  5. Strong knowledge of U.S. individual and small-business tax rules
  6. Experience with modern tax software and strong Excel skills
  7. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  8. Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  9. Genuine interest in pursuing an ownership stake in a growing firm

Nice to Have

  1. Experience in a small- to mid-sized firm environment
  2. Experience in improving processes and systems
  3. Familiarity with practice management/workflow software
  4. Interest or experience in business development and practice growth
