Position Summary
This position supports the mission of the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with tuberculosis (TB) among Indiana residents. The incumbent leads and coordinates health education and training initiatives for internal staff, external partners, healthcare providers, and the public.
The role serves as a key liaison for statewide TB education efforts and supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of training, outreach, and professional development activities within the TB Prevention & Care program.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide education, training consultation, and technical assistance to local health departments (LHDs), healthcare providers, and the public regarding tuberculosis.
Lead and coordinate health education initiatives hosted by IDOH TB Control and external partners, including the Annual World TB Day Conference.
Assist TB Regional Nurse Consultants with training LHD staff and disseminating updated TB training materials.
Develop and distribute written and oral reports, handouts, training materials, newsletters, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Create educational resources and outreach toolkits for partners such as civil surgeons, homeless shelters, primary care providers, and infection control practitioners.
Conduct educational presentations and trainings for diverse audiences, including public health professionals and community members.
Participate in community outreach events, including health fairs.
Serve as primary liaison for education and training activities with:
American Lung Association (Indiana)
Global Tuberculosis Institute at Rutgers
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Participate in grant writing and funding proposal development.
Support the TB Prevention & Care Director in planning and implementing professional development activities.
Serve as the TB Program's CDC Education and Training Focal Point and attend CDC
