This position is full-time and in-office at our Oak Forest, Illinois location.

This role is not remote or hybrid. Applicants must be able to work onsite daily.
Only candidates with prior title examination experience will be considered.

About the Role:
Barrister Title is seeking an experienced Title Examiner to join our close-knit, detail-driven team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys research, and understands how critical clean title work is to a smooth closing.

What You’ll Do: As a Title Examiner, you will be responsible for researching and analyzing property records to identify matters that may affect title, including but not limited to:

  • Examining recorded deeds, mortgages, contracts, and other instruments affecting title.
  • Locating and reviewing tax records, judgments, liens, bankruptcies, and foreclosure actions.
  • Researching conditions, restrictions, easements, and other encumbrances.
  • Accurately summarizing findings for internal use, underwriting, and insurance purposes.
  • Maintaining clear and organized title research records.
  • Communicating progress and findings with colleagues and clients as needed.
  • Delivering clear, accurate reports that support efficient and compliant closings.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous title examiner experience is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of property title terminology and title examination processes.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using public records search tools such as DataTrace.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented work style.
  • Experience with SoftPro is a plus.
