This position is located in Sacramento at DMV Headquarters.

The Facilities Operations Branch is seeking a Associate Space Planner (ASP) to join an exciting team of creative professionals.

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor I in the Facilities Operations Branch, the ASP performs interior design and modular systems furniture (MSF) layouts to support new and reconfigured workstations. The ASP is responsible for analyzing, coordinating and implementing project activities pertaining to planning, budgeting, design, space use, construction, maintenance, staff relocation, and health and safety concerning staff and buildings located in the Sacramento headquarters complex and field locations throughout the state. Knowledge in AutoCAD and California Building Code required.

The Department of General Services Associate Space Planner employment list will be used as an appropriate list to fill this position. List eligibles on the Department of General Services Associates Space Planner employment list may apply for this position. If the selected candidate is on the Department of General Services Associate Space Planner employment list, they will be hired in the classification of Associate Space Planner and will maintain their eligibility on the Department of General Services Associate Space Planner employment list.

Working Conditions

Part-time telework available. Telework requires California residency. This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.

Works within an office setting. This position requires independent travel throughout the state, including overnight stays. Drives a vehicle that may include a van, travels via airplane, and conducts site visits. May oversee work typically scheduled after business hours and on weekends, which would require the incumbent to work after hours on-site.

Knowledge of: Principles and practices of architecture, office planning and design, and development of facilities planning programs; building code requirements and other regulations affecting building design; architectural and building materials; and project management.

Ability to: Read and interpret drawings, plans, and to design, render, and draw elevations, floor plans, and modular furniture plans; lay out, inspect, and check the work of others; review existing facilities and make recommendations for more efficient, economical and functional utilization of space; analyze situations accurately, make recommendations, and take effective action; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the work; communicate effectively; coordinate and manage projects to completion; promote and be accountable for customer satisfaction and quality service; initiate or recommend changes that promote innovative solutions to meet customer needs.
