Job Description

Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: 100% Remote (EST and CST hours)

Contract Duration: 6+ months with potential for extensions and permanent placement

Job Summary:
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating technical documentation for Eaton's digital software suite. This includes user manuals, training materials, technical guides, and other documentation that supports the effective use and understanding of Eaton's products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Digital Office Offer Management Team (Segment Leaders, Offer Managers, Product Owners), Global Learning and Development Program Manager, and IT Learning Management to gather information and understand documentation requirements.
  • Develop clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for a variety of audiences, including end-users, technical support staff, and internal teams.
  • Create and maintain user manuals, training materials, technical guides, and other documentation that supports Eaton's digital software suite.
  • Ensure all documentation is aligned with the global digital learning strategy and modified as needed based on regional and/or country-specific requirements.
  • Work closely with the Design and Development team to identify and implement alternative and e-Learning materials that complement the curriculum of instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and web courses.
  • Manage the documentation lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, editing, and publishing.
  • Provide regular updates to key stakeholders on documentation progress and actively seek feedback to improve the quality and effectiveness of the documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to the intended audience.
  • Collaborate with other training specialists to share best practices and ensure consistency across all training materials.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five years (5) of experience in technical writing, preferably in the data center software industry.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience with documentation tools and software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Qualified candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of the posted location.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge and project experience with intelligent and/or software products, and the ability to quickly learn new products applicable to the Data Center and Industrial market segments.
  • Familiarity with channel partners, specifiers, and customers, as well as the basic form, fit, and function of related products within the market segment.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong collaborative working style, working at multiple levels of an organization.
  • Ability to think and act strategically to address organizational documentation needs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge and experience with adult learning practices.
